I think it’s the 2nd most expensive piece of gear I’ve had to buy. Everything else has been $60 or less except the pants.

Kinja'd!!!

Got a fairly stiff stick(85) as I’ve been playing forward and there are no slap shots allowed in D-League.

I want to play hockey again, nothing was quite as satisfying as taping a new stick... even if I needed help making the grip up top....

My buddy who played for a while said I did a pretty good job on mine. We will see how it works when I get on the ice. Very excited to try out the graphite stick instead of the 2x4 I was using before.

I think I had a composite Easton or something? I dunno, it flexed quite well.

I was defense, and I mean, It made sense, the frontrunners tended to be the faster smaller kids. this was many years ago. I still have some abilities on ice, but I haven’t used a stick or a puck in years...I wonder how bad my aim is nowadays.....

Its a common sport I guess... I know a lot of people that played it... many who actually made it to the junior games in Canada (forgot the official name) Also we play American football quite a lot. I guess soccer is the one that predominates the most, but sports from across the world are played here... and have quite a cult following... even extreme Frisbee for some reason....yes... I did get to play that too.

A friend of mine gifted me some NHL jerseys so on practice I would use the Montreal Canadiens one....not knowing who they were though...

Also, that thing that protects your upper legs and butt? that saw ample usage when I learned how to ski and snowboard a few years later and I fell over multiple times.

The biggest problem with hockey is having Ice available. Even with the money and support we have for hockey, there is only one rink south of Nashville, 2 in east nashville, and one in downtown excluding Bridgestone Arena. The complex that had 2 more rinks south of town shut down because office space is worth more apparently.

Talking about sports well, I mean I can think of 5 malls with ice rinks of the top of my head with teams too.... there’s probably a load more that I don’t know about!

Otherwise, we’re running into the same issue with space for sports that require a lot of flat space that could otherwise house office workers.... I mean most universities have their teams but, highschools don’t pretty much... I think ASF has everything (basketball, soccer, american football) but the Mexican league is boring so no one really pays attention to it...not like in the US where college football is a fucking sensation.

Funnily enough we might get more American-style investment in sports thanks to Arkansas State University opening a university campus in Queretaro, which I found equal parts funny and equal parts bizarre...

85 is a standard flex. If you were doing slappers you’d want something in the 100-110 flex depending on size and weight. If your 85 bows when you’re taking wristers then it’s a good match, if not I’d suggest trying a 75. For forward you typically want a shorter stick with a lie to match based on your natural skating position. That way you can keep the puck closer to your body. If you don’t know what lie is it’s the angle of the blade in relation to the shaft of the stick.

I got the same stick 2 years ago! I know very little about hockey gear as I just play pickup pond games here in Upstate NY. Mine is a 112 flex which is probably too stiff for what I’m doing, but I do really like it. It feels a LOT more powerful than my old worn out wood stick and if I’m fighting someone for the puck their stick tend to give way when mine stays put. I think the curve of the blade on mine is less than my old stick, which has taken some getting used to for shooting, but overall it was a huge improvement for me.
